have produced a FLAT BET PROFIT. 11/19/98 Aqueduct Handicapped for Fast & Good 2 DR. DISTINCTI ( ) 64.0* In this sample we have assigned the asterisk(*) to two 2 BUDDY'S BIRD ( ) 63.5 horses, Dr. Distinctive, our TOP-RANKED horse and FORTUNATE AFF ( ) 63.5 Ridged Appeal, a first-time-starter. The asterisk is URMINE ( ) 63.3 indicating two separate ideas that amount to the same MYSTIC PRO ( ) 60.0 type of thing. IMPULSE SHOPP ( ) 57.0 In case #1, Dr. Distinctive, the asterisk is telling LOOK WELL ( ) 52.0 you the horse is exhibiting TOP-FORM. What do I mean SOUTH BEACH G ( ) 52.0 by the term TOP-FORM? First you need to know that I STRAY VOLTAGE ( ) 52.0 use extremely sophisticated PACE & FINAL numbers which RIDGED APPEAL (p) ....* I make myself. I also run studies on form cycles based CERIDWEN ( ) .... upon this proprietary material. When I see a series of GREAT PIC ( ) .... races that conform to a pattern which clearly predicts "better than normal results," this horse gets an aster- isk indicating this positive expectation. Now, remember the number assigned to the horse already tells you its "CURRENT EXPECTED FORM," so the TOP-FORM* indicates this horse's ability to outperform the assigned POWER NUMBER. It might be able to jump forward to a greater extent or it might suggest extreme consistency and reliability. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the horse is ranked the more the TOP-FORM* indicator is about consistency and the lower the horse is ranked, the more the TOP-FORM indicator is about the ability to POP a big number. Since this designation is based upon material that is essentially private and superior, it is not surprising these horses produce a FLAT BET PROFIT. Dr. Distinctive was both the (T-F*) and the (T-R) and of all the
horses that have actually run he is also the ONLY TOP-FORM HORSE.
This naturally means we are less concerned about the competition popping
a really big race. Considering these factors and even factoring in
the group of First-Time-Starter as an unknown, odds of 2 to 1 seem extremely
fair. Just by knowing his higher performance level to date, 2 to
1 should be pretty reasonable, but when you factor in the additional ADVANTAGES
of TOP-FORM and ONLY TOP-FORM 2 to 1 works. If the group of
first-time-starters did not exist, we could accept 8 to 5. As luck
would have it, Dr. Distinctive went off at a premium price of 2.4 to 1,
very profitable.
In case # 2, Ridged Appeal, we have a FIRST-TIME-STARTER with the asterisk. This indicates that the horse has something positive to indicate its ability to win first time out. I look at other material to determine which ones get the asterisk. These are never good wagers at odds-on prices, but in this case the horse went off at 19/1, certainly worth a saver or even a secondary key. Even though this horse did not perform well, at value-oriented prices it will serve you very well. To my way of thinking these horses make excellent savers, very solid to use in exotics for both 1st & 2nd. We have had some incredible win and place horses from this group including Impressive Grade ($101.40) and Olive Flu who ran 2nd at 32/1. Remember, long-price plus the TOP-FORM* indicator makes it worth playing; at short prices these horse are less interesting. |
