The Making of the Power Page |
Hello Racing Fans,
Horse Racing is one of the most exciting activities around, and I have
been enjoying it for
the past 22 years. But when it comes to handicapping, each and every race
offers a
different set of circumstances. In some races there are horses that have
a significant
physical advantage, simply put they are clearly faster than the rest of
the field. However,
in other races the fields can be much more competitive..
Jerry J’s Power Page addresses the above scenarios so that you can properly
evaluate
each horse for an odds level that you are satisfied with. Consider some
of the following
ideas:
All horses within 2.5 points
of the top-ranked horse have a reasonable chance to
win. If you like a horse/jockey/trainer/color who is within 2.5 points
of the top horse,
you should consider making a wager especially if the odds are nice and
long.
The top horse will run slower
than its assigned number about 50% of the time, so
top-ranked horses with marginal power advantages tend to be poor favorites.
Horses with the (*) have produced
a healthy "flat bet" profit proving our philosophy
of betting form over power.
Carefully evaluate our early
speed numbers, the 1’s and 2’s. Consider the different
effects of having one, two or many speed types in a race.
Sometimes a horse will have
2 or 3 of the above… strong power….sharp
speed….and an (*)to designate solid form.
Horse Racing is also a game with many random factors. No matter how sharp
your
handicapping skills might be and how strong the Power Page numbers are,
you will not
get perfect results every time. Most professionals have developed their
betting strategies
on winning one-third of their bets at odds greater than 2/1. Let the Power
Page give you
that edge!
